An intersection in Colwood saw two crashes in 24 hours last weekend, and it isn’t the first time the cross road has been the site of a collision.
On Saturday night around 10:20 p.m. a pedestrian was struck on Kelly Road at Sooke Road. The patient was conscious when taken to hospital by ambulance.
The next day around 3:10 p.m., a Subaru headed eastbound on Kelly Road was T-boned while making a left turn at the Sooke Road intersection.
Two people were sent to hospital.

Cpl. Chris Dovell of the West Shore RCMP said there have been at least seven collisions at the intersection between January 2018 and now.
“I’m not aware of any specific design issue with the intersection or if it is being reviewed as a high crash intersection by ICBC,” he said.
But according to ICBC’s crash maps, the intersection was the site of 44 crashes between 2013 and 2017 – and 19 of those resulted in injuries or fatalities.
That’s significantly less than the 112 recorded in that time period at Jacklin and Sooke roads, but it does put the junction in the top six most dangerous Colwood intersections.
“Safety is a consideration on any tranportation upgrade,” said City of Colwood communication manager Sandra Russell. “Historically, upgrades have happened at Sooke Road and Wale Road.”
Russell said crashes at the junction have been steady, not increasing over time. She said as the City looks towards upgrading its transportation master plan, safety factors will be considered.
