Two senior women were taken to hospital Saturday – one by air ambulance – following an afternoon collision in South Surrey.
According to police, the seniors were northbound on 130 Street around 4:30 p.m. when the Kia Spectra they were travelling in was broadsided on the driver’s side by a Ford Edge that was eastbound on 16 Avenue.
The Kia driver, a 63-year-old North Vancouver resident, was airlifted from nearby Laronde Park due to possible head injuries. Her passenger, a 66-year-old Maple Ridge woman, was transported to hospital by ground ambulance.
Both women are expected to recover fully.
The single occupant of the eastbound vehicle, a Surrey man, was not injured.
Investigation as to cause is ongoing.
