SURREY — Police are investigating two shootings, one of them fatal, in Surrey this weekend.
It brings the number of shootings in Surrey and North Delta to 43 since the beginning of March. Police say many of those are related to a dial-a-dope turf war in this area.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team reports that one man is dead and another person has been arrested following a fatal shooting at a house in a cul-de-sac at 165th Street and 64th Avenue. The shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Police are holding a press conference at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Surrey RCMP continues to investigate a shooting at COBs Bread in the 18800-block of Fraser Highway shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.
Several shots were fired into the front window of the shop and bullet casings were found at the scene.
“The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this incident is a random act,†said Staff Sgt. Joe Johal. “Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.â€
Cpl. Scotty Schumann said police are reviewing surveilance footage and are still trying to find a motive for this shooting.
