Only two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Golden area to start March, according to recently released data from the BC CDC.
The data shows new reported cases for the period of Feb. 18 – March 6.
Across the Elk Valley, which includes the Windermere area (Invermere), Kimberley, Cranbrook and Fernie, there were only nine new cases reported.
It’s a part of a larger trend of declining cases outside of the Vancouver metro area, which has seen their curve bend back upwards in recent weeks.
In Interior Health, the Kamloops area has the highest concentration of cases.
“The public health restrictions have not changed, and with spring break in the near future we need to be careful to avoid undoing all the good work accomplished so far,” read a statement from the Physicians of Golden in their March 5 community update.
“We are grateful to all for the good work each of you has done to keep our community safe.”
