There are presently two wildfires burning in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park within the Coastal Fire Centre.
An 11-hectare wildfire, discovered Friday, is located three miles southwest of Sigutlat Lake.
The second fire, .01 hecatres in size, was discovered Saturday near Tesla Lake.
“Fifteen firefighters were deployed to the fire Friday near Sigutlat Lake and remain on site,” said Coastal Fire Centre communication assistant Natasha Broznitsky.
There are also two helicopters currently assigned to the fire and an additional 20 firefighters were en route Saturday.
The suspected cause of both wildfires is lightning.
According the B.C. Wildfire Service wildfire map Sunday, there is only one fire listed in the Cariboo Fire Centre.
It is near Hen Ingram Lake discovered Saturday, July 14, although at this point it is only .01 hectares. No suspected cause is listed.
Across B.C., a rising heat wave and winds in the southern half of the province have helped start 11 new wildfires in the past 24 hours.
