A two-storey penthouse apartment overlooking Mill Lake and larger than many houses sold last week for $1 million.
At 2,975-square-foot, the condo is one of the largest in the valley, and sits in the Summit Point on the Lake building, across from Sevenoaks Mall and a stone’s throw from Mill Lake.
It’s the second-most expensive sale of an apartment from the last two years, according to BC Assessment.
The condo sold on Dec. 5 after being listed for $1,099,000.
The apartment had three bedrooms and three bathrooms, one of which included a window-side jacuzzi from which one could see Mill Lake.
The apartment also boasted a living room, dining room, large kitchen, recreation room, den and storage room. A spiral staircase connected the two floors of the apartment.
The building was constructed in 1996, but listings for the apartment said extensive renovations were recently completed.
Until it was sold, the condo was one of two apartments listed for sale in Abbotsford for more than $1 million. The other is a 1,500-square-foot apartment on the 17th floor of the Mahogany at Mill Lake. That apartment is listed for $1,129,850.
Only one other condo has sold for more than $1 million over the last five years, and it went for double that sum. According to BC Assessment, the 26th-storey penthouse at the Mahogany sold for $2 million in September of 2016, just as construction began on the high rise.
The third-largest condo purchase was of another 17th-storey Summit Point condo in 2017. The fourth- and fifth- pricest sales were of condos on the upper floors of the Mahogany in 2017 and 2016, respectively.
