Chilliwack RCMP were scouring a downtown neighbourhood Monday morning after a U-Haul, suspected in possible break-in, crashed into a tree on the front lawn of a Maple Avenue home.
The driver fled the scene, but tools that could be used in a break-in were left in the front cab.
Police cordoned off the area and the dog unit was brought in.
The U-Haul, with Arizona plates, was northbound on Woodbine when the driver failed to make theĀ turn onto Maple. The vehicle smashed through a large branch on one property before plowing into a tree on the adjacent property. The branch lay across the hood.
So far, no one has been arrested.
