This week’s Quesnel Job and Information Fair is a chance for people looking for work to connect face-to-face with potential employers

Job Fair co-ordinator Kurtis Cunningham says they have 41 confirmed exhibitors and possibly up to four more for the event, which will be held Thursday, Jan. 23.

Some examples of the potential employers who will be at this year’s Job and Information Fair are Gibraltar Mine (Taseko Mines), Techmation Electric and Controls Ltd., Northern Health, the RCMP and B.C. Wildfire Service.

“This exciting event will allow businesses and institutions to showcase the employment opportunities in their various sectors and to connect with potential employees,” Cunningham says in an email. “It will also provide a venue for service providers and others to exhibit their information.”

He notes that with the closure of the Tolko mill this summer, there are many skilled workers looking for opportunities, many of whom have industrial experience, trades, relevant industry certificates and transferable skills.

Cunningham says they are expecting attendees from Quesnel, Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.

The Quesnel Job and Information Fair takes place Thursday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Quesnel and District Seniors’ Centre at 431 Carson Ave.

Job-seekers are encouraged to go to the WorkBC Centre at 100-488 McLean St. to make copies of their resumé before heading to the Seniors’ Centre.
