An 81-year-old man was killed at a crosswalk early Monday on Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge.
A black Nissan Leaf was travelling east in the 23700-Bblock of Dewdney Trunk road around 7:30 a.m. when the man was struck while in a marked crosswalk, according to Ridge Meadows RCMP.
The man was transported to hospital, but passed away.
The road remained closed as of 11:30 a.m., and the B.C. Coroner Service will attending the scene.
Next of kin have been notified, police said. The driver remained at scene and is cooperating with police.
