UPDATE: Arrest made in Maple Ridge stabbing

The incident took place in front of The Emerson

A 19-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday following a stabbing in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP said she was taken into custody after the Investigative Support Team assumed control of the investigation.

Police had surrounded a condo complex called The Emerson in the 22300-block of 122 Avenue.

There were approximately 10 police, fire, and ambulance vehicles on the scene.

The victim, identified as a 25-year-old Maple Ridge man, was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services with minor injuries.

A witness said the victim had a knife wound in the back.

The victim was able to stand and speak with police before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

A suspect was not located immediately and a police dog was brought in while officers went door-to-door inside the building.

One tenant of The Emerson said it is a rental building and mostly quiet.

“Police are still in the early stages of the investigation,” said Sgt. Dave Grey.

“Due to the nature of this incident, we believe there are no concerns to general public safety.”
