BC Hydro continues to work to restore power to impacted customers after an SUV struck a power pole Friday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., breaking the pole.
Initially, power was out to more than 4,000 customers due to the collision. Seven hours later, only 35 customers are without power as the crew completes work to replace the broken pole.
Power is expected to be fully restored by 10 p.m.
Williams Lake RCMP are investigating the cause of the incident, which involved a lone occupant and single vehicle.
Update: 4:13 p.m.
BC Hydro has restored power to most of the over 4,000 customers who were without following a motor vehicle incident on Mackenzie Avenue South Friday afternoon. Currently, 35 customers are listed without power.
Update: 2:24 p.m.
Power has been restored to some hydro customers after a single vehicle struck a power pole on Mackenzie Avenue, across from DGs Car Wash.
Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Del Byron said there was a lone occupant in the vehicle at the time of the collision, and no injuries were reported.
Byron said the matter is under investigation.
Flaggers are on site to assist with traffic control as BC Hydro crews work to repair the damage.

Emergency responders are on scene of a motor vehicle incident which occurred just after 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 in Williams Lake.
A power pole is broken in half across from DG’s Car Wash on Mackenzie Avenue South.
BC Hydro is reporting 4,000 customers are without power stretching throughout the downtown core and beyond.
