Update: BC Transit driver taken to hospital with serious injuries after assault

Driver attempted to stop an altercation between two people on the bus

A BC Transit bus driver has been taken to hospital following an assault in Victoria Thursday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Douglas Street, Hillside Avenue and Gorge Road, the driver reportedly attempted to stop an altercation between two people on the bus.

The suspect disembarked and then assaulted the bus driver.

One man was arrested shortly after the incident and the driver was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is in the early stages, with more to come.
