A seniors facility in Castlegar was evacuated Monday afternoon after a power outage and the smell of smoke were reported at the building.
No fire was discovered Castleview Care Centre and Castlegar fire chief Sam Lattanzio suspects the smell was related to power outage experienced in central Castlegar at the time.
Thermal imaging cameras were used to confirm there were no hot spots anywhere in the building.
Lattanzio praised the staff of the facility for expertly following their emergency protocols and speedily calling 911 and evacuating the premises.
