The long list of nominees for the Central Saanich by-election has dropped by two as of today.
Adam Gottlieb, a first-time runner for council, announced his resignation from the race March 15.
“I decided to leave the by-election for personal reasons,” Gottlieb told the News Review Friday.
“There are things that have come up in my life that make it so I can’t commit one hundred per cent of my effort to a campaign, and the only way I’d want to do this is if I could give it my all,” he said.
Andrew Caldwell also withdrew from the by-election a day prior.
Eight candidates remain the by-election for two seats on council that were vacated by Councillors Terry Siklenka in November of 2012 and Adam Olsen earlier this year.
The general vote is scheduled for April 13 and advance voting will be held April 3 and 10.
