A 34-year-old Chilliwack motorcyclist is in stable but serious condition after an accident Thursday that closed Young Road for over five hours.
“The motorcyclist in this case was very lucky,” RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck said.
“We want to remind drivers to be aware of motorcyclists on the road to give them the space they need,” she said.
The motorcyclist and a truck were involved in a collision, but the exact cause of it is still under investigation. No charges have been laid.
The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist several metres into the air and left him with severe leg injuries, witnesses said.
An RCMP collision reconstruction team examined the accident scene, which required the closing of Young Road between Cheam Avenue and Chesterfield Avenue.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to Royal Columbian hospital after the 1:30 p.m. accident.
