A 32-year-old woman is lucky have suffered only minor injuries after crashing into the Kawkawa Lake Bridge, Saturday night, January 15. Her white Chevy Cavalier teetered precariously on the edge of the bridge when police arrived on scene. With the vehicle crammed into the pedestrian walkway and hovering just over the Terasen gas line, the Hope Fire Department and Hope Search and Rescue ensured that the gas line and the vehicle were stabilized before extracting the woman from the wreck. The rescue team then had to cut away the bridge guard rail and the driver’s door. The woman was traveling into Hope at the time of the crash. The single vehicle crash is attributed to “both driver error and weather conditions,” reports Corporal Lea-Anne Dunlop, on behalf of the Hope RCMP.
