UPDATE: Downed power lines close Belgo Road

Fire department, Fortis are on scene in Kelowna where an excavator appears to have hit a power pole

Belgo Road is being re-opened to traffic.

Belgo Road in Kelowna has been closed down after a power pole was compromised and power lines knocked down on the road.

The Kelowna Fire Department as well as Fortis are responding to the scene after reports that an excavator may have compromised the power pole, knocking down the line.

RCMP are also attending the incident.

To deal with the event, the fire department has blocked off Belgo road, about a half kilometre from where it connects to Springfield.

The Capital News is sending a reporter to the scene and will pass on any more information as it becomes available.
