UPDATE: Driver ticketed after crashing truck carrying glass

Two men escaped serious injury when the truck rolled over on the Nanaimo Parkway on Monday

  • May. 30, 2018 12:00 a.m.

The driver involved in a glass-truck crash earlier this week was ticketed for an unsafe lane change.

Two men were taken to hospital after the accident on the Nanaimo Parkway on Monday.

Emergency crews were called at about 4:10 p.m. to the crash site, located about a kilometre north of Cedar Road, where a truck carrying glass had rolled over and crashed in the median of the northbound fast lane.

The driver and passenger were taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, but suffered no serious injuries, according to Nanaimo RCMP.

No other vehicles were involved.

The parkway was strewn with broken glass and northbound traffic was backed up until the wreck and broken glass were cleared from the scene.

“[The driver] did get a ticket for unsafe lane change,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
