ORIGINAL:

Emergency crews are on the scene of a house fire in Williams Lake Sunday afternoon.

The fire is in the 100 block of Midnight Drive.

Witnesses on scene thought no one was home — a duplex — at the time of the fire around roughly 2 p.m., however, the Tribune has not yet confirmed that with the Williams Lake Fire Department who is on scene currently battling the blaze.

A nearby neighbour, Merrissa Lewis, who was one of the first to notice the fire, said it grew very quickly.

“Me and my friend, we heard sirens and came out to the window, and there was smoke coming out of the house,” Lewis said. “We ran out because we were worried about a dog and a teenager [who live in the duplex].”

Lewis added the WLFD were extremely quick to respond to the fire.
