UPDATE: Fine issued after RDCO van struck in crash

Traffic backed up on Dilworth Monday morning after a minor crash

A West Kelowna woman has been fined after striking a RDCO van Monday morning.

According to Kelowna RCMP, the woman was driving her grey Hyundai sedan eastbound on Highway 97 when she suddenly turned left towards Dilworth Drive, striking a westbound Dodge Grand Caravan.

“The driver of the white Dodge van reportedly attempted an evasive manoeuvre, however the vehicles collided in the intersection causing heavy damage,” explained Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

RCMP were called to the scene at 9:11 a.m. for reports of the two-vehicle collision.

“Both drivers, the lone occupants of their vehicles, were assessed by emergency medical crews at the scene however reported no injuries as a result of the crash,: said O’Donaghey

“The driver of the Hyundai, a West Kelowna woman, was issued a fine for failing to yield under the BC Motor Vehicle Act.”

Southbound traffic on Dilworth Drive had to be rerouted Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash along Highway 97.

A Regional District of Central Okanagan minivan was involved in the collision that left the van with damage to its left side.

A dark silver sedan’s front end sustained serious damage as well as it appears it struck the side of the white minivan.

A witness says injuries did not appear to be too serious.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
