UPDATE: Fire engulfs old Argo building in Princeton

The building was being used for storage, and police say no one was inside when the fire started.

Fire has engulfed the old Argo building near Highway 3 and Rocklin Avenue in Princeton.

The building was being used for storage, and police say no one was inside when the fire started.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Smoke began to billow from the building around 2 p.m. today. Firefighters from Keremeos soon arrived to help the Princeton detachment put out the flames.

The whole building was quickly engulfed in flames, and the roof later partially collapsed.

A police officer backed his truck into the building to tow out a Princeton Ground Search and Rescue trailer. The rescue organization’s equipment was being stored inside.

Firefighters are still on scene trying to put out the fire, but the flames and smoke are dying down.
