Update for Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

As we slowly and safely ease out of COVID-19 restrictions, the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital auxiliary would like the community to know the auxiliary is still busy. We are starting to look at what we can do to fulfill our mandate to support our hospital and the community members who use it.

We held our first executive meeting since the onset of the pandemic, outside and social distancing. Planning is underway for selling our 50/50 raffle tickets in a few month’s time.

Some auxiliary members took part in the drive-by congratulations for Bernie Easson on her retirement. Bernie was a recipient of the auxiliary bursary in 1979 and we appreciate the support she has given to our hospital and the auxiliary.

The auxiliary thrift shop (below the tracks in Vavenby) has reopened, with some changes, on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Business is brisk and we appreciate the social distancing and patience the customers display.

Thank you for your continued support. We missed the fun we always have putting on the garden party and Thrift Shop fashion show, one of our major fundraisers, but they will hopefully return next year.
