Update: Forest service road east of Sicamous reopens after rockslide

Craigellachie Anstey Gorge Forest Service Road has reopened.

Update: Wednesday Aug. 7 12:45 p.m:

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) reports the rock slide at the Craigellachie Anstey Gorge Forest Service Road has now been cleared and the road is back open for use.

The Perry River Forest Service road which was blocked by a rockslide at the 40 km mark last week remains closed.

Original Story:

The Shuswap Emergency Program was notified of a pair of rockslides blocking forest service roads northeast of Sicamous on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Reports from the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development indicated the Perry River Forest Service Road was blocked at the 40-km mark, and the Craigellachie Anstey Gorge Forest Service Road was closed just past the 42-km mark.

Users have been asked to avoid both roads as neither are passable.

Crews were on site to assess the situation and the emergency program stated they would provide an update when more information became available.
