Drivers planning to use the highways through the Shuswap should be prepared for long delays.
Mud and water on the highway approximately three kilometres east of Canoe has caused a closure of both lanes as crews attempt to deal with mud, debris and water on the roadway.
Currently, the road is closed.
The Trans-Canada Highway is also closed in Sorrento near Markwart Road until further assessment.
The alternate route on Highway 97A is also having issues with mudslides. Drivers are also being turned back from heading that route as an alternative way to travel around the Trans-Canada closure.
A slide has been reported in the Mara area.
Riverside Road, which was also being used as a Highway 97A detour is now also closed due to a washout.
Water is pooling on all major routes in the Shuswap.
In addition, local roads including Salmon River Road in the 2000-block is also experiencing flooding, as is the 700 block of Mable Lake Road and Deep Creek Road near Schoolhouse Road.
Drivers are advised to use caution, especially as night falls in all areas of the Shuswap.
