Aug. 1, 12:25 p.m. update: The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said in an email response Wednesday that crews are still working to fully reopen Highway 97 at Loon Lake Road, south of Clinton, after Tuesday evening’s mudslide.
“There was one vehicle impacted by the mudslide, and fortunately, there were no injuries,” according to the ministry.
The mudslide occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, after the area was hit with heavy rain.
The road was reopened to a single lane of alternating traffic less than one hour after the mudslide.
July 31, 7:11 p.m. update: The highway is open to single lane alternating traffic, according to Drive BC.
Drivers are asked to use caution and watch for crews.
