A senior was injured and had to be extricated from his vehicle using the jaws of life on Monday afternoon after a collision on Highway 97B near the Countryside Mobile Home Park.
On Jan. 15, at approximately 3:40 p.m. an RCMP member from another jurisdiction came across a motor vehicle collision in the 2500 block of Highway 97B.
A southbound Jeep was traveling through, when a Ford pick-up truck turned across the southbound lanes to enter a driveway.
As a result of the collision, the Ford truck was flipped onto its roof and the driver was trapped inside the
vehicle.
The Salmon Arm Rescue Unit, assisted by the Salmon Arm Fire Department, cut the 77-year-old male driver and sole
occupant out of the wreckage.
The driver of the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital by BC Ambulance.
The driver of the Jeep, a 26-year-old woman from Salmon Arm, suffered minor injuries and was checked by paramedics. She went home after providing a statement to investigators at the scene.
The matter remains under investigation.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a vehicle collision on Highway 97B near the Countryside Mobile Home Park and the Salmon Arm Golf Course late this afternoon.
As of 4:15 p.m. traffic is currently being routed through the area in a single-lane alternating pattern.
The Salmon Arm Rescue Unit is on scene and the jaws of life were used to extricate a person from a truck with a canopy which is lying tipped on its side on the shoulder of the road.
A senior man was removed from the heavily damaged truck and is being loaded into a waiting ambulance. A witness said the truck was attempting to turn into the mobile home park when the collision took place.
Another compact SUV is damaged at the scene.
