UPDATE: Jumper on Kelowna bridge taken to hospital

Police arrived at the WR Bennett Bridge and helped the 32 year-old man down

Update Sept. 3

On Sept. 1 just before 8:30 a.m., RCMP received reports from multiple citizens concerned for the well-being of an unknown male laying on the highway, and eventually standing on the meridian of the William R. Bennett bridge over Okanagan Lake.

Police located the 32 year-old Merritt man, who appeared to be distressed and disoriented. Concerned for his health and well-being, the man was apprehended by police and transported to hospital for a full medical assessment.

RCMP have not released any further information at this time.

Emergency crews are on scene today after responding to reports of a jumper on the WR Bennett Bridge.

The calls were made this morning at about 8:30 a.m.

Emails have been sent to the Kelowna RCMP.
