The fire department said it received the call on Aug. 30 but after some time the department was told to stand down while the Penticton RCMP took over.
The 18-year-old jumped off a point approximately 110 feet from the lake surface and did not resurface, according to RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.
Officers from Penticton RCMP, Penticton and Okanagan Search and Rescue and RCMP Air Service searched the area but the man was not located.
On Saturday morning just after 7 a.m., the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located the man’s body.
The BC Coroners Service is now investigating. The identity of the man is not being released.
