Due to be home from Prince George on Sunday early morning, a man and a woman from Vanderhoof are missing and the search continues as of Dec. 21 morning.
Kieran Friesen and Sammy Morin left a family gathering in Prince George on Dec. 19 evening at about 10 p.m., and decided to take the Blackwater route home to Vanderhoof because their vehicle’s low beam lights were not functioning, posted Friesen’s sister Hannah on Facebook.
The last word from the missing people was a pocket dial call from Morin to her mother at 1:10 a.m. on Dec. 21, and further attempts to call them were unsuccessful, as their cell phones seemed to have run out of battery, said Kyle Stevenson, a friend of Friesen.
With a missing person file to the police on Dec. 20 evening, efforts to locate the missing people continued in the back roads between Prince George and Vanderhoof, including support from the local RCMP as well as aircraft from Vanderhoof Search and Rescue.
Search efforts are currently organized from the Vanderhoof fire hall, as well as in Prince George’s firehall on 4555 West Austin Road in the Hart highlands.
The missing individuals were driving a blue 2008 GMC, with a damaged rear bumper and a Flo~Pro sticker, Stevenson added.
Both 23 years old, Friesen is about six feet tall in height and Morin is about 5 feet six inches tall.
