UPDATE: Man arrested in fatal stabbing near Clayton Heights gas station

Victim pronounced deceased at the scene; RCMP cordon off area

One man has been arrested after another man was fatally assaulted in Surrey’s Clayton Heights overnight.

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious death at a gas station in the 18300-block of Fraser Highway at around 4:30 a.m., according to a statement by Const. Richard Wright.

First responders attempted to revive a man, 47, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators have been deployed to investigate. A man remains in police custody.

“Police believe the two men were known to each other and that there is no ongoing concern for public safety at this time,” Wright said. “There is no indication that this incident is related to gang involvement.”

The RCMP said IHIT will release more information as it becomes available.
