UPDATE: Maple Ridge crash sends three to hospital

The accident happened at Lougheed Highway and Laity Street.

Three people were transported to hospital after a collision Wednesday between a car and a truck on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.

The collision involved a blue GMC pickup truck and a black sedan. It occurred around 11:15 a.m. along Lougheed Highway at Laity Street.

Lutz Gellrich, with Reliable Auto Towing Service, used his flatbed tow truck to block traffic turning east onto the highway from Laity St.

He said the sedan was travelling east in the left-hand lane and collided with the front driver’s side corner of the truck.

The driver of the truck and a passenger, along with the passenger in the car were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the car was not taken to hospital.

The eastbound lane of the highway was shut down for an hour while the scene was cleared.

A member of the Maple Ridge fire department saidRidge Meadows RCMP are investigating.
