Surrey RCMP are re-issuing an appeal for help locating a South Surrey man missing since Feb. 16.
Police said Monday afternoon that the concern for the health and well-being of Michael Fontaine, who takes medication for a health condition, is growing.
Fontaine, 62, is believed to have left his home in the 2000-block of 156 Street sometime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 16 and has not been heard from since.
It’s also believed he does not have his medication with him.
Fontaine’s family told police it is unusual for him to be away from home this long, and he’s likely on foot, as he doesn’t like public transit.
Search-and-rescue crews scoured the area over the weekend, to no avail.
Fontaine is described as five-foot-10 inches tall, 165 pounds, with blue eyes, glasses, grey hair and a grey scruffy beard. He walks very slowly, is unstable on his feet and uses a burgundy wood cane.
He is believed to have been wearing black or grey sweat pants, a black vest and black or grey hoodie, and blue slip-on shoes.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file number 2017-21512.
