UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP have now located Brianna Fisher, 17, who had been missing since December.

Fisher visited the Nanaimo RCMP detachment on Jan. 4 and spoke at length with an officer, according to the police, who said the investigation is now closed.

Police in Nanaimo are continuing their investigation into finding Brianna Fisher, 17, who left her central Nanaimo home Dec. 14 and has not returned.

Investigators have learned Fisher has reached out to friends via social media and they believe she may be in the Lower Mainland or the Duncan area. Nanaimo RCMP will continue with their investigation until such time they or other police officers can speak with her in person.

Fisher is Indigenous, 5-foot-9, 120 pounds and has long brown hair with blonde tips. Investigators were not provided with the last known description of what she was wearing.
