An 81-year-old woman, reported missing Friday, has been found safe, says Nanaimo RCMP.
Kyeong Soon Kim was reported missing by her family at 8 p.m. last night when she didn’t return from a walk to Westwood Lake.
She was found at approximately 10 a.m. Saturday, sitting near the entrance of the Nanaimo Fish and Game club on Nanaimo Lakes Road, said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, in a press release.
“It appears [Kim] walked throughout the evening, covering a distance of approximately four kilometres,” said O’Brien. “She has been taken to local hospital for a general assessment but overall she appears to have weathered the elements and is expected to make a full recovery from her ordeal.”
O’Brien expressed gratitude to Nanaimo Search and Rescue for assisting in the search and the public for sharing the story through social media.
