UPDATE: motorcyclist seriously injured after crash near Hixon

UPDATE MAY 16:

A motorcycle crash south of Hixon had Highway 97 closed for a short time yesterday (May 15).

Quesnel RCMP and North District Traffic Services were called to the scene at 7:23 a.m. A northbound Suzuki motocycle had lost control and the driver and lone rider was thrown from the bike, an RCMP press release says.

The male driver, 23, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Drive BC reported the incident, saying the incident was affecting both north- and southbound traffic.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the crash, in which they say speed was a factor.

UPDATE MAY 15:

Drive BC is no longer listing the incident on its website and it is believed traffic flow is back to normal.

ORIGINAL POST:

Drive BC is reporting a vehicle incident on Highway 97, 2.4 km south of Hixon.

The incident is affecting both north- and south-bound traffic, with the road is reduced to single-lane alternating traffic.
