Two people have been sent to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Langford Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, West Shore RCMP, BC Ambulance and Langford Fire Rescue responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash.

Police said the collision involved a blue Honda Pilot and silver Honda CRV and occurred on an undivided curve between Leigh Road and West Shore Parkway.

There were no passengers in the vehicles and the drivers were both transported to hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

Langford Fire Chief Chris Aubrey said crews had to use jaws of life to get one driver out of a vehicle.

The RCMP collision analyst and investigators were at the scene to investigate the cause of the collision. The highway remained closed near Leigh Road in both directions while they investigated and reopened to traffic at approximately 4 p.m.

While the highway was closed, both northbound and southbound traffic was diverted along Langford and West Shore parkways.

Any witnesses of the collision are being asked to contact investigators by calling the local detachment at 250-474-2264.
