A Coquitlam woman in her 30s died in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon in Maple Ridge.
The accident, involving a hatchback, happened at about 12:15 p.m. on 128th Avenue, near the intersection of 210th Street, in front of the Laity Pumpkin Patch.
B.C. Coroners Service spokesperson Andy Watson said the investigation is in its early stages and confirmed the gender and approximate age of the victim.
Identities of motor vehicle accident victims are no longer released because of privacy legislation and the Coroner’s Act.
“This my co-worker … so sad and saddened to hear the news this morning. I still can’t believe this. Rest in peace,” said Mizraim Appleton online.
Ridge Meadows RCMP officers on scene offered few details, but confirmed it was the passenger who died.
Police, though, later confirmed that it was a single-vehicle accident, involving only two occupants of the vehicle.
No further details will be released by police.
An eyewitness confirmed that a vehicle went off the road before colliding with a chain link fence.
A stretch 128th Avenue was been blocked for investigators, at 128th and Laity Street, and traffic was being diverted around the scene.
