A woman remains in critical but stable condition at Royal Inland Hospital (?) following a serious two-vehicle crash last week just north of town.
100 Mile House RCMP used dash cam footage and eyewitnesses to piece together the details surrounding the crash, which occurred at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20 at the intersection of Saunders Crescent and Highway 97 near 103 Mile.
Staff Sgt. Svend Nielsen said a northbound Pontiac G6 struck the woman’s Chevrolet Equinox as she made a left-hand turn from Saunders Crescent onto Highway 97. The Pontiac G6 had been seen by multiple witnesses prior to the incident driving erratically with high speeds and dangerous behaviours, he noted in a news release.
100 Mile House RCMP, RCMP Cariboo Central Traffic Services with assistance from the 100 Mile Conservation Office, BC Ambulance and 100 Mile Fire Rescue all attended the scene. An off duty physician was nearby and assisted at the scene, where the woman was flown out by air ambulance to hospital. The other was arrested for suspected impaired driving.
