Penticton RCMP said investigation continues into a driver that allegedly hit a cyclist on Eastside Road and fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a Pontiac Vibe, or other Pontiac brand of vehicle, with a small honeycomb style of grill.

“Should any repair shops have any information about a similar vehicle with front-end damage, they are encouraged to call the Penticton RCMP,” said Const. James Grandy.

The Penticton RCMP are searching for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly hit a cyclist and fled the scene on June 5.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, officers attended a report of a cyclist/vehicle hit and run on Eastside Road. According to a release, the vehicle did not remain on scene and may have some front end damage.

“The 26-year-old male cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was rushed to hospital where he remains sedated in critical condition with non-life threatening injuries,” states the release.

A traffic reconstructionist attend the scene to assist officers with the investigation. No description of the vehicle was provided in the release. RCMP are asking the driver and any witnesses to come forward.
