Kamloops RCMP continue to gather evidence in the Dallas neighbourhood after a man was arrested for breaking into two homes and assaulting two men.

On Monday afternoon, Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a Kamloops resident was returning home from work when he found an unknown man in his residence.

“During the course of a struggle with the suspect, the citizen received serious injuries including lacerations to his head,” says Shelkie.

“The suspect ran from this residence and broke into another nearby house. The homeowner was in that residence and again, there was physical confrontation with the suspect. This homeowner received stab wounds.”

The suspect’s arrest was initiated by an off-duty Kamloops police officer who saw the suspect leaving the second residence.

“The off-duty police officer chased the suspect who ran to a third home and climbed into a vehicle associated to that residence,” adds Shelkie.

“This officer kept the suspect contained in the vehicle until other RCMP officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect.”

The citizen who received stab wounds was released from Royal Inland Hospital last night. The citizen with lacerations to head and other injuries is still in medical care.

The 31-year-old suspect will go before a judge today. He was previously known to police and is from Kamloops.

Two men are in hospital with apparent serious injuries and a suspect is behind bars following a pair of alleged home invasions in east Kamloops, according to police.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Bob Fogarty said emergency crews were called to a neighbourhood in the Dallas area just after 4 p.m. for a report of a residential break-and-enter in progress.

“Upon arrival, police discovered two separate homeowners had been injured in separate altercations with the male suspect,” he said.
