Four police vehicles converged in front of a grocery store on Government Street around 11:20 a.m. on Monday morning.
Const. James Grandy said officers responded to a theft from a motor vehicle in progress on Queen Street. Once they arrived, they observed a vehicle that had been broken into and a purse was reported stolen.
Grandy said a female suspect was arrested, however was later found not to be associated.
RCMP remind the public not to leave any items of value in their vehicles.
