A 26-year-old Kelowna man accused of murder was remanded into police custody over the weekend following a stabbing Friday night in Rutland.
On March 11, 2016 at 9:45 pm, the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Gertsmar Road. Police had received a 911 emergency call to attend the above location. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to discover an unresponsive man appearing to have lost a significant amount of blood.
Police are now identifying the victim as Waylon Percy Junior Jackson of Kelowna. He was rushed by to hospital in critical condition, however sadly succumbed to his injuries.
RCMP had arrested a suspect a short distance from the scene.

The suspect, a 26-year-old Kelowna man, was remanded into police custody over the weekend. The RCMP are now identifying the Accused as Chad Colton Alphonse. He is expected to appear in Court today facing a potential alleged charge of 2nd degree murder.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene to discover an unresponsive man appearing to have lost a significant amount of blood.
“The victim, a 26-year-old Kelowna man, was rushed by Emergency Health Services to hospital in critical condition. Sadly the victim succumbed to his injuries,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghy, in a previous release.
“RCMP have arrested a suspect a short distance from the scene. The suspect, a 26-year-old Kelowna man who is known to police, remains in police custody.”
The investigation is in it’s early stages, however the RCMP have believe that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of this investigation.
