UPDATE:
Wind storms knocked out power to around 400 BC Hydro customers in total in the Quesnel area this morning.
BC Hydro’s Northern community relations manager Bob Gammer said they have restored power to most areas, but have about 35 customers left to get back online.
“We are hoping to get them back up by this evening,” he said.
Gammer said the outages were due to trees that were forced into contact with the power lines due to the wind, either momentarily or, in some cases, whole trees uprooted and resting on the lines.
“Farther south, we are also still cleaning up outages in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake,” said Gammer.
Gammer said the power line fires the fire department responded to this morning are unrelated to current outages.
