A power outage in Hope today. It left the Midtown Shopping Plaza's clock stalled at 1:30 p.m., and shut off the downtown core's traffic lights.

UPDATE: Power restored in Hope and Fraser Valley

Among the over 50,000 customers who lost power, 4,839 are from Hope.

Power was restored to Hope and the Fraser Valley five minutes before the 4 p.m. estimate of power restoration.

A transmission circuit failure knocked out power to Hope.

“We currently have a transmission outage affecting the majority of the Fraser Valley east region including parts of Abbottsford, Chilliwack and Hope,” said BC Hydro’s website during the power outage. “Technicians are at the substation working to restore. Updates as available.”

The power outage started at 1:34 p.m. BC Hydro’s last update, at 2:24 p.m., before power was restored, gives an estimate time of power restoration at 4 p.m. for all of Hope.
