Chilliwack RCMP confirmed Tuesday that the vehicle possibly being driven by a 23-year-old woman who was last seen near downtown has been located.
Shaelene Keeler Bell disappeared on Saturday (Jan. 30) after being spotted in the 9300 block of Edward Street. Mounties would not say where the vehicle was found, but family and friends say it was on Ballam Road near the Fraser River.
After 2 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 2) family members were down near the location the vehicle was found preparing to spread the word with an interview by a broadcast news outlet. Friends and family also planned to search the area.
Shaelene is described as having bleach blonde hair and brown eyes, standing five-foot-two and weighing 95 pounds. Police initially reported she may have been driving a grey 2021 Hyundai Tucson SUV with B.C. license plate CR975V.
Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said they are still hoping to speak to anyone who might have seen Shaelene.
“It’s still a missing person file and we don’t want anybody turning it into something else,” Rail told The Progress Tuesday.
“I can confirm the vehicle has been located and recovered. Search and rescue was actively searching an area yesterday and the investigation remains ongoing as a missing person file. We will be deploying more RCMP resources to search.”
RCMP ask anyone with information to call the police at 604-792-4611 or dial Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
