Penticton RCMP were called to a rural area of Willowbrook Road, near White Lake Road where a body was discovered on Jan. 17.
Investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, Police Dog Services and the Forensic Identification Unit were called to assist with the investigation, which is being treated as suspicious, RCMP said.
The identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed.
Police said their initial investigation has revealed no risk to the public. No further details are available to be released at this time, RCMP said.

RCMP are continuing to investigate after a body was found in the Willowbrook area south of Penticton.
A police presence remained in the area Wednesday morning with multiple officers and a police service dog was observed near the intersection of White Lake Road and Willowbrook Road searching on the side of the road.
RCMP told the Western News a press release is forthcoming later today (Jan. 18).
