UPDATE: Single vehicle rollover claims life of 46-year-old man

Williams Lake RCMP believe alcohol a factor in Spokin Lake Road MVI

A 46-year-old man from Chilliwack died following a single vehicle rollover on Spokin Lake Road on the weekend, RCMP said Monday.

Police responded to the report of the incident on Spokin Lake Road, off of the Horsefly Road, on Saturday morning at 7:16 a.m.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson District Advisory NCO North District said when emergency services personnel arrived on scene they found a brown Ford pickup had rolled over and the driver and lone occupant was deceased on scene.

“The investigation is ongoing, however, police believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash,” Saunderson said.

RCMP closed Spokin Lake Road for several hours Saturday while members of the Prince George Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigated the scene.

DriveBC caused some confusion surrounding the incident Saturday by incorrectly posting that Horsefly Road was closed, when the incident actually occurred in the 3500 block of Spokin Lake Road.

Residents in the area have since told the Tribune the shoulders of the road and along driveways on Spokin Lake Road were sharp due to recent paving work.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have information regarding this investigation are asked to call the Williams Lake RCMP at 250 392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477
