RCMP are continuing to investigate a three-vehicle crash that closed off Highway 18 on Saturday, Dec. 22.
Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, media relations officer for the RCMP’s E Division said, police were called to the scene at about 10:45 a.m.
On Facebook, however, several writers noted that the highway was closed.
Philecia Wynn Isaacson posted about noon: “serious accident and helicoper arrived” and Roni-Lee Roach said, “Traffic being rerouted via Skutz heading to Duncan. Lake Cowichan firemen flagging on Highway 18.”
There was one person in each of the three vehicles. All were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries, with one taken to a larger area hospital with more serious injuries.
“Initial information is that an eastbound car lost control due to weather and road conditions,” said Shoihet. “The vehicle spun out and collided head on into a pickup truck travelling in the westbound lane. A second truck travelling in the westbound lane also collided head on into the spun out car.”
