Two passersby helped a woman move her kids and pets from a house fire on McKenzie Road and Marshall Road this morning in east Abbotsford.
The two men – Andrew Duncan and Jacques West – said they passing by, on their way to an appointment just after 10 a.m., when they saw smoke coming from the residence.
They said they stopped to see what was going on, and a woman came frantically out of the home. She passed them her two children, a dog and two cats.
Everyone got out of the home without injury.
Fire, police and ambulance crews were all called to the scene, and arrived to find flames and heavy smoke.
Assistant fire chief Jeff Snider with Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service said firefighters launched an “aggressive attack” on the blaze and were able to quickly contain it.
