UPDATE: Two missing snowmobilers located safe east of Williams Lake

UPDATE:

Two snowmobilers reported missing Saturday evening east of Williams Lake were located safely early Sunday morning.

Central Cariboo Search and Rescue Chief Rick White said the people were located at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning inside the safety cabin at Yank’s Peak.

“They were safe and no injuries,” White said.

CCSAR responded to the report at roughly 6:15 p.m. Saturday evening, and were activated to Yank’s Peak east of Williams Lake.

White said CCSAR would like to remind people venturing into the backcountry to have the right gear and equipment in case of an emergency, and to leave a trip planner with someone before heading out.
